Warranty, deposits and changes
What is covered, how payments are staged, and what happens when plans change.
Workmanship warranty
Terms are published here exactly as the operator documents them. [TBC]
Manufacturer warranties
Cabinet hardware, countertop materials and appliances carry their manufacturers’ warranties, which we pass on in writing with your final invoice. [TBC]
Deposits and payment schedule
Every project has a written contract and a staged payment schedule agreed before work starts; our standard schedule is published here once confirmed by the operator. [TBC]
Ontario’s Consumer Protection Act sets the rules for home renovation contracts, and they protect you whichever contractor you choose. In plain terms, per the Province’s guide for home renovation businesses:
- Any contract worth more than $50 must be in writing.
- The Province recommends deposits of no more than 10% of the total project cost.
- Where a contract includes an estimate, the final price cannot exceed it by more than 10% unless you asked for additional or different work and signed a change to the contract.
- Changes to the scope mid-project must be documented in writing, including the effect on price and completion dates.
- A contract signed at your home carries a 10-day cooling-off period: you can cancel for any reason without a fee, and any deposit must be refunded within 15 days of your notice.
- If you never receive a written copy of the contract that meets the Act’s requirements, you can cancel within one year.
Changes during the project
Changes after design sign-off are priced and confirmed in writing before they are built.
